HopeBC.ca Profile Pages

pathwaypartners.hopebc.caI want to showcase two things here.
Pathway Partners, a volunteer group in the Hope BC area who are coordinating human-powered access to beautiful places.
Also, the webpage they are using to get their information out.

HopeBC.ca profile pages such as this are an economical and versatile way to be online.  The template page is editable by Pathway Partners and they’ve chosen to use the following modules:

IMAGE INSERT is their Pathway Partners header image.

SIMPLE HTML TABLE to list and link to their minutes etc located in their Google Docs account.

PHOTO GALLERY updateable by them anytime - uses LightBox feature to view full photos.

GOOGLE CALENDAR EMBED - with their events and those of related organizations posted.

CONTACT FORM - customizable by Pathway Partners in the CMS (content management system)

MAILCHIMP NEWSLETTER SIGN-UP EMBED to gather emails of interested visitors in the right column.

FACEBOOK EMBED - updated here every time the update at FB and when a visitor ‘LIKE’s their FB page.  Twitter or other social media embeds are also available.

HopeBC.ca was designed to serve as a community hub.  The SubDomain Profile Pages are an important spoke in this hub.  They are intended for organizations that don’t have their own website and want to be strongly identified with the parent site, the hub.  In this case, it is the Hope BC geographical area.

For Chamber of Commerce or other membership based organizations, this model of website is ideal.  To buy your own customized version of this website, contact Rudy Kehler.  rudy@thesimplifycompany.com

What’s a HashTag?

Good question.  Let’s assume you already know how Twitter works.

Let’s say you want to find quick Twitter info on a particular topic or place.  One of my topics that I write about is the HopeBC area.  I like to send out tweets every now and again about the HopeBC area.  Why?  Well, I live in the area and like to draw attention to it.  To help feature the area I built http://hopebc.ca quite a while ago and am rebuilding it now again.

So, when I tweet about HopeBC, I put it into the searchable category ‘hopebc’ by placing a hashtag ‘#’ in front of the ‘hopebc’.  To see how this works, go to HashTags.org or TwitterSearch.  There are more Twitter based search tools -Google Juice

these two just happen to be the ones I tend towards.  Yes, Google has one as well.  Also yes, this is one more way to encourage GoogleJuice.

Type in #hopebc at one of these sites and see that I recently posted a few tweets.  Type in some other terms that interest you and see what comes up!

Any questions?
