Twenty Eight

Yesterday Maureen and I reflected on
28 years as a Mrs. ‘n Mr.
In spite of the Thai in Harrison (“my till
is not set to HST”,” the tap water is
no good you must buy bottled”, “I actually
prefer less people on the deck
‘cause that’s my area and less people means less work for me right?”) the vista inspired great reflection, as always. This morning I was thinking back…
One year ago we moved into the house we’ve built in Yale.
Five years ago we left 19 yrs of Camp Squeah and rented a cute little tide-us-over in Hope. Time for a new chapter.
Ten years ago we were decidedly walking away from formal christianity - some life-long assumptions were just not making sense anymore.
Fifteen years ago is a bit of a blur, but Connie Lepp, Kim Heinrichs and Dave Pries came into our lives at various times about then. Good people that lived lives of integrity different from our’s and broadened our perspectives.
Twenty years ago involved four children under the age of five or six. A very happy blur. Motion blur, not gaussian. Our family unit seemed, that. The best! Still.
Twenty five years ago Angela, our first child was born. Big new chapter.
Thirty years ago. Hangin’ with a very cool girl named Maureen. Beautiful, super-athletic, beautiful, actually seems to want to know me! For real! I was and am most fortunate of men.
